Our Work
Earwax is a natural substance produced in the ear canal to protect your ears. Sometimes earwax can become troublesome for people, resulting in ear pain, itchiness, ringing in ears, hearing loss or other issues.
Ear Microsuction is a safe and effective method for removing earwax, debris and foreign bodies from the ear canal. It is considered the gold standard procedure for earwax removal carried out by certain professionals.
Microsuctioning is considered safer than syringing or the use of cotton earbuds, as it avoids the risk of pushing wax further into the ear canal and causing eardrum or canal damage. Microsuction can effectively remove impacted earwax, sometimes using earwax softening ear drops is necessary prior to treatment to achieve the desired result.
The history of your ear problem is discussed. Your ear canal is examined using a light, microscope with or without a surgical speculum to assess the ear. Using a gentle vacuum (suction) a thin suction cannula with a speculum is inserted in the ear and used to remove problem earwax if necessary. In some cases, small surgical instruments are used to pluck or remove wax.
The procedure can be slightly noisy due to the suction. Most people find microsuction to be a comfortable procedure, although some may experience mild discomfort or a strange feeling. The procedure is generally safe but there are some potential risks which we will discuss with you prior to the procedure.
